Coats and dresses with an aristocratic elegance were the showpieces of Cornell Collins’ most polished collection to date.

A silver mohair coat shaped through the waist had a feminine, 1950s feel, as did a beautifully draped, gray wool satin gabardine dress with a cowl back.

Collins delighted in his details: A pinch-tucked, gray silk poplin shirt was top-stitched around the collar and cuffs, gray wool tweed pants were updated with a wider cuff, and a mink collar provided a nice counterpoint to a delicate, green paisley print chiffon dress.

He proved once again that he’s a designer to go to for a ball gown. The show’s finale, a strip-layered, bias-cut dress in a brilliant shade of periwinkle, left the audience wanting an encore.
