Mother, Daughter Plead Not Guilty in Beating
A Simi Valley woman and her teenage daughter pleaded not guilty Friday to attempted murder and other charges stemming from the beating of the woman’s husband.
Eileen Shannon Childs, 37, and her daughter, Jennifer Lee Childs, 19, lost their bid for a bail reduction, officials said. They are being held in Ventura County Jail in lieu of $500,000 bail each.
The two were arrested after a March 25 attack in which Larry Childs’ bedroom was set on fire and he was hit on the head with a baseball bat. They are charged with conspiracy to commit murder, attempted murder and aggravated arson.
