From Times Wire Reports

Dutch cheese makers have made what they believe is the world’s largest cheese, weighing 1,250 pounds and produced with 1,100 gallons of milk.

The yellow colossus, a Beemster cheese, has a diameter of 63 inches and stands 40 inches high.

The biggest challenge was to transport the cheese in one piece and weigh it, said the chief of the cheese market in Alkmaar, 20 miles north of Amsterdam, the capital.

The cheese registered as the world’s largest weighed 1,023 pounds and was produced by the same makers.
