Restaurant Restrooms for the Handicapped
Why are so many restaurants in L.A. County still in violation of the Americans With Disabilities Act provisions? The hardship that a person in a wheelchair has in having to use a toilet in many restaurants has become deplorable. The entrance doors are too small to pass through, the size of the toilet stalls does not accommodate a wheelchair and the lack of grab bars in the toilets is disturbing.
I suggest that every restaurant owner and manager of a restaurant sit in a wheelchair and try to manipulate his or her way into the restroom to experience firsthand the distress that so many are suffering. A small investment in providing better accommodations could enhance a restaurant’s reputation and future business.
