E-File Your State Taxes Under ‘Special Interests’

Share

I don’t think state Controller Kathleen Connell is letting the $75,000 she received from Intuit influence her decision on e-filing tax returns, and I don’t think the public should be able to conveniently file its tax returns online without paying a private firm for the privilege (“Free Tax E-Filing System Defeated,” Aug. 1).

While we’re at it, I think we should stop using public funds for libraries because they compete with bookstores; public funds shouldn’t be used to field high school or college football teams because they draw fans away from pro sports; and we should close publicly funded hospitals since they compete with private ones. Wait a second, in L.A. we are already doing that last one! How much longer before we throw the rascals out of government?
