Hearn Funeral Will Be Private
Private funeral services for Laker broadcaster Chick Hearn, who died Monday, will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Martin of Tours Church in Brentwood, Cardinal Roger Mahony presiding. The service will be televised.
The public is invited to Staples Center from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday to view a special exhibit at the spot from which Hearn broadcast Laker games and sign a tribute book. His headphones, game notes and other personal items will be on display. Those attending can park free in lots 3, 5 or 7 and enter through the Star Plaza entrance on 11th Street.
In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested a contribution to the scholarship fund being established in Hearn’s name at the Annenberg School for Communication at USC. Checks should be made payable to the USC Annenberg Chick Hearn Fund and mailed to the USC Annenberg School for Communications, Los Angeles, CA 90089-0281.
