Finally, a Loser Will Become a Winner

Share

Although it seems impossible to believe, some horse will win tonight’s sixth race.

The eight thoroughbreds in the $2,500 claimer are a combined 0 for 80, but one of them will be a maiden no longer after the 4 1/2-furlong contest is history.

A 5-year-old gray son of Cee’s Tizzy, Applicator is the likely favorite in the second leg of the night’s second pick four. Owned by Jose Gutierrez and Guillermo Nunez and trained by Jesus Nunez, the gelding is one of only three members of the field who has been second in a race and he has done that twice.

The picks: 1. Alpine Socialite. 2. Errli Melodi. 3. Chenilles Dasher. 4. Fra Amici. 5. Danes Degaulle. 6. Applicator. 7. Hot Diggity Vet. 8. Under My Wing.

Four! Use Red Ino Go, Alpine Socialite and EG Special in the first, use Errli Melodi and the Virama-Tetris entry in the second, single Chenilles Dasher in the third and use Fra Amici, Bobbin Lee and Fair Adobe in the fourth.

Shots in the dark: Flo Joes Legacy makes his first start in California in more than a year in the fifth. Leeper has his claiming price halved as he tries for the sixth time to break his maiden in the sixth.
