Officer Breaks Arm While Subduing Man
A Ventura police officer suffered a broken arm as he tried to subdue a man during a disturbance at City Hall, authorities said.
Douglas Hippchen, 42, of Ventura was yelling at people and kicking displays in the downtown building about 4 p.m. Friday, police said.
Leaving the building, Hippchen ignored orders from Sgt. Glenn Utter to stop. Police said Hippchen advanced toward Utter, who put up his hand in an effort to stop him.
Hippchen was then wrestled to the ground by other officers and treated at Ventura County Medical Center for minor abrasions.
He was booked for felony battery upon an officer.
