Affordable Housing Is Panel Topic

The California Chapter of the American Planning Assn. presents a workshop on affordable housing projects today in Irvine. Alex Hernandez of the Olson Co., a California builder, and other panelists will present strategies for achieving quality affordable housing. The four-hour workshop begins at 8 a.m. at the City Hall Conference and Training Center, 1 Civic Center Plaza, Irvine. The cost is $30 for students, $50 for APA members and $90 for nonmembers. * On Saturday and Sunday there will be guided tours of the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood. Sid Grauman’s movie palace was designed by architects Mendell Meyer and Gabriel Holler in 1922. The one-hour tours, which begin at 10:30 a.m. at the box office, take visitors behind the scenes to dressing rooms, singers’ boxes and the projection booth. The cost is $5 to $7.
