New High School Faces Another Problem
Re “Tribe Wrangles Over Burial Site,” Nov. 18:
Lost in the discussion of Junipero Serra High School versus the Juaneno sacred site are very serious environmental issues. Under the site is a volatile hydrocarbon plume leaking from the underground storage tank of the gas station [nearby]. Private school use of land is unregulated by Cal/EPA, so the children running around on the site will be breathing fumes from the carcinogens in the plume. Not my children.
