Morning Snow Loses Her Shot at the Million

Share

There will be no $1 million bonus for Morning Snow.

On a night when heavy rain and wind hampered the horses who ran in the later trials for the $1,313,700 Los Alamitos Million, Morning Snow, who was eligible for the bonus because of earlier wins in the Kindergarten and Ed Burke Memorial futurities, wasn’t among the 10 fastest qualifiers Friday night. So she won’t run in the Million on Dec. 13.

Another star who failed to qualify was All American Futurity winner AB What A Runner. The filly won her heat to remain unbeaten in four starts, but her time wasn’t swift enough.

Meteoric, who has won eight of nine, qualified and will be heavily favored in the Million. The rest of the field: Special Queen Sa, Royal Miracle Dip, The Blues Man, Lotta Bang, Lock To Load, Xterra, Dealadash, Corona Caliente and First Place Queen. John Bassett trains half the qualifiers.
