Santa train stops here
“Griffith Park: It’s Central to L.A.” (Nov. 28) contained some misinformation. Alas, the “Santa train” runs no more. Don Gustavson, the proprietor, can no longer afford to keep the train running. Next year he hopes to run the train as a nonprofit.
The Griffith Park Train ride to the North Pole was enchanting. The lure of boarding a train at night, crossing snow-covered meadows (actually white cotton), talking to friendly elves and ending up on Santa’s knee brought together a mix of families from all over this city. Next year I want to hear “All aboard. Next stop the North Pole.”
