High School Boys Held in UCLA Dorm Sex Assault
A UCLA student was sexually assaulted in her dormitory by Carson High School students who broke off from a field trip and entered her room, campus police said Thursday.
The assault occurred about 11 a.m. on Dec. 5, according to UCLA police.
Officers arrested three students, who are juveniles, the following day, using descriptions given by the victim and other witnesses.
Campus police said only that the woman was sexually assaulted and would not elaborate. The male suspects were not identified. UCLA police spokeswoman Nancy Greenstein would not say where the youths were being held.
Dorm residents enter the dormitories by using encoded identification cards, but someone probably let the high school students in, Greenstein said.
Sgt. Miguel Banuelos of the UCLA police said campus patrols have been increased as a result of the attack. He said he didn’t know whether the suspects are in juvenile hall or had been released in their parents’ custody.
