Tech Workforce
Many reasons are provided for why the current downturn in technology has resulted in the export of jobs overseas (Dec. 12). However, the tired old excuse provided by William Archey of the American Electronics Assn. -- that if the U.S. wants to stay on the cutting edge, it must do a better job of educating its workforce, particularly in science, mathematics and physics -- is one of the big lies perpetuated by America’s technology industry. The U.S. educates many thousands of skilled employees in these fields; they’re just not willing to work for $3 an hour.
