Rain-Induced Mudslides Kill 13 in Town Near Rio

Mudslides triggered by heavy rain in a mountain town near Rio de Janeiro killed 13 people, the town’s Civil Defense Department said, with more victims presumed buried.
Picturesque Teresopolis, a popular weekend getaway spot in the hills about 40 miles northeast of Rio, got hit with torrential rains that triggered the slides.
