Experimental Treatment Allowed for Belfast Teen

The family of a teenager infected with the human form of “mad cow” disease won final legal approval in Northern Ireland to receive an experimental treatment that has never been tested on humans.
Northern Ireland’s highest-ranking judge, Robert Carswell, said he agreed with a previous ruling allowing Jonathan Simms, 18, of Belfast to be treated for Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease.
