From Times Wire Reports

City officials are offering free paint to property owners along a street to be named after civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

City officials hope the paint will match other properties along the former Lakeview Avenue and upgrade its image.

“This is great because the people will be more comfortable coming out here,” said property owner Bill Mackey, who plans to open an ice cream shop on Jan. 18, the slain civil rights leader’s birthday and the day of the official street dedication.

“At one time, it was a rough area. It’s not that way anymore.”
