This Lavin Cat Should Take His Hat and Go

The state of UCLA basketball with apologies to Dr. Seuss:

I do not like those Bruins.

I do not like their coach.

I do not like the way they shoot.

I do not watch them while in ruins.

They are not good on this coast or that coast.

They are not good on my floor or your floor.

They are not good on offense or defense.

They are not good with my breakfast toast.

We will not see them in March Madness.

We will not see them run a play.

We will not see them learn and grow.

We will not learn to accept this sadness.

To lose such greatness sure feels strange.

To lose with better talent is a shame.

To lose to a Lumberjack or Torero makes no sense.

So please, Mr. Guerrero, please make a change.

I am,

I have a professional obligation to report cases of elder abuse. There is a serious case over at Pauley Pavilion every time they allow John Wooden to watch the Bruins play their version of basketball.

Someone should intervene and save him the embarrassment and humiliation of having to watch Steve Lavin coach his old team. He signs autographs and clenches his program but he can only take so much before he is permanently harmed. It’s just not fair to let a 92-year-old man be subjected to such treatment.

You might be better off to stay at home, Mr. Wooden, keep the television off, get plenty of rest, and maybe next season it will be safe to go back to Pauley.

While both teams are struggling, it is clear that the Bruins are in better shape than the Lakers. After all, the Lakers have the best players and coaches that can be assembled. The Bruins only have the players.

The hiring of Karl Dorrell now frees up Ed Kezirian to be the interim coach of basketball. They could use a little towel waving.
