Purse: $3.6 million. Winner’s share: $648,000.

TV: USA (today-Friday, 4-6 p.m., delayed) and Channel 2 (Saturday-Sunday, noon-3 p.m.).

Last year: Phil Mickelson successfully defended his title, beating Frank Lickliter with a double bogey on the third hole of a playoff. Lickliter three-putted for a triple bogey. Davis Love III was eliminated on the first extra hole.

Last week: Matt Gogel won at Pebble Beach for his first tour title. He holed a 25-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole and won when Pat Perez closed with a triple bogey.

Notes: Mickelson, from San Diego, also won the 1993 tournament. He won the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic last month for his 20th PGA Tour title. ... Tiger Woods, the 1999 winner, is winless in three starts this year, tying for 10th in the Mercedes Championships, sixth in the New Zealand Open and 12th last week at Pebble Beach. ... John Daly is playing for the fourth consecutive week. He tied for fourth two weeks ago in the Phoenix Open and tied for 39th last week in Australia in the Heineken Classic. ... The tournament is in its 50th year. ... The final two rounds will be played on the recently renovated South Course. Architect Rees Jones rebuilt the greens, added bunkers and stretched the back tees to 7,600 yards. ... The Nissan Open is next week at Riviera.

Where: Naples, Fla.

Course: The Club at TwinEagles (7,134 yards, par 72).

Purse: $1.4 million. Winner’s share: $210,000.

TV: PAX (Friday, 10 a.m.-noon) and CNBC (Saturday-Sunday, 11 a.m.-1 p.m.).

Last year: Gil Morgan beat Dana Quigley by two strokes at Pelican Marsh. Morgan also won the 1998 tournament.

Last week: John Jacobs won the rain-shortened Royal Caribbean Classic, beating Tom Watson, Bruce Fleisher and Isao Aoki by a stroke in Key Biscayne, Fla.

Notes: Jack Nicklaus, who designed the TwinEagles course with son Jack II, withdrew because of a herniated disk in his back. ... Ben Crenshaw is making his first senior start. He withdrew from the Royal Caribbean Classic because of flu. ... Tom Purtzer and Fuzzy Zoeller made their first official starts last week, with Purtzer tying for seventh and Zoeller tying for 51st, 10 strokes behind Jacobs. ... The Verizon Classic is next week at the TPC of Tampa Bay, followed by the Audi Senior Classic in Mexico City.
