Tracy Gahan scored 19 points to lead No. 12 Iowa State--subjected to an emergency landing en route to Lawrence, Kan.--to a 75-50 Big 12 Conference victory Wednesday against Kansas.

The Cyclones’ chartered plane developed a problem with its landing gear, but landed without incident in Des Moines only minutes after leaving Ames. The team then traveled 230 miles by bus.

“It was a little unnerving,” Coach Bill Fennelly said. “We did not find out until after we landed that it was a landing gear problem. It’s probably good we didn’t know about it ahead of time.”
