Calendar reports that exclusive footage from Sept. 11 will be broadcast by CBS on March 10 (“CBS Buys Rights to Unseen Sept. 11 Video,” by Elizabeth Jensen, Feb. 6).

March 10 is believed by many to be Osama bin Laden’s date of birth. I fear that Bin Laden and his followers might view this broadcast as a gift that exalts their attack on the U.S. I would suggest that CBS schedule another time slot.

The article about CBS’ purchase of the video reports that “CBS officials were also pitched a comedy series with a Sept. 11 plot line (a couple united after their spouses died in the attacks), but that project has since fizzled.” Clearly this suggests that CBS executives seriously considered--at least for a time--bringing this “comedy” to the small screen.

After reading this, I’m more confused than ever regarding those who lead the entertainment industry. Keeping in mind that, even today, they’re still pulling bloodied bits of bodies out of the World Trade Center site, I’m wondering if entertainment executives are born without souls or if they’re simply required to sell them to the Devil to achieve such lofty positions in their industry--a price of admission, of sorts.
