Do We Want This Circus in Our Town?
Of course we want the Lewis-Tyson fight in L.A. We need and want the spectacle, revenue and excitement that only a heavyweight fight can generate. What is of questionable value is the proliferation of posturing sportswriters in this town.

Chairman of the California Athletic Commission, Manuel Soto, believes that holding the Tyson-Lewis fight at Staples Center would boost the local economy. He stated that “it would bring in money for the hotels, restaurants, air flights.”
Two areas of the economy that he forgot to mention are the extra security that would be required of the LAPD to quell the riot after the fight, and the boom to our health-care system, after Tyson is finished eating his way through all available ears and thighs at Staples Center.
