A woman suspected of bludgeoning her husband to death has been arrested in Arizona, police said Monday.

Authorities, tipped off that Palmira Galache had traveled from Mexico to Phoenix, set up surveillance and arrested her early Wednesday. A second suspect, Carlos Ceron, is being sought in connection with the slaying, said Sgt. Jeff Beeler, spokesman for the Tustin Police Department.

Luis Carlos Vega, 47, was found dead Aug. 17, 2000, in an alley next to El Presidio Apartments on McFadden Avenue, where he lived with Galache and their three children, police said.

He was apparently bludgeoned to death about 4:30 a.m. as he left for his job as a machinist in Fountain Valley, Beeler said.

No date for Galache’s return to Orange County to face murder charges has been set, Beeler said.
