A man was shot to death by Los Angeles police officers Sunday evening after a standoff that followed an alleged domestic violence incident in West Los Angeles.

About 7 p.m., police opened fire on the armed man, who had barricaded himself inside the attic of his house in the 2500 block of Tilden Avenue, police said.

The man, who was not identified, was suspected of beating his son and wife, police said.

“We did have an officer-involved shooting. The suspect had a gun,” Lt. Mike Menza said. He could not confirm whether officers were fired upon by the man.

He said the shooting followed the report of a domestic violence incident at the house earlier on Sunday.
