Acting on a teacher’s tip, Los Angeles school police arrested five boys on suspicion of setting fires and burglarizing two North Hollywood schools, authorities said Wednesday.

The youths, 11 to 14 years old, are believed responsible for vandalizing Coldwater Canyon Elementary School and Madison Middle School over the weekend.

The boys, all from North Hollywood, were taken into custody Tuesday night. They admitted to burglarizing both schools, and two admitted to arson, said Det. Steve Crowell of the Los Angeles Unified School District police.
