Daze Gets Hat Trick, but OT Goal Sweeter

Eric Daze will surely remember his fourth career hat trick.

Daze scored his third goal of the game with 5.4 seconds left in overtime as the visiting Chicago Blackhawks extended their winning streak to four games with a 5-4 victory over the Ottawa Senators on Monday night.

“That’s my first overtime goal ever in the NHL, so it was pretty sweet,” Daze said.

Daze, who also had an assist, scored twice in the third and beat goalie Patrick Lalime 4:54 into overtime for his 23rd goal of the season.

Philadelphia 2, Vancouver 1--Simon Gagne scored with 2.8 seconds left in regulation to lift the Flyers at Vancouver, Canada.

Mario Lemieux, out the last 19 games because of a sore hip, officially practiced with the Pittsburgh Penguins for the first time since Nov. 12.

Lemieux is aiming for a return to the lineup Jan. 8 at Mellon Arena against the Boston Bruins, Coach Rick Kehoe said.
