Steep Price to Pay

Share

I recently went to the Hollywood & Highland complex and was generally pleased. I thought the theaters in the multiplex (at least the one I attended) were terrific--the stadium seating, the room to cross my legs and allow easy passage of others.

I didn’t even mind the $9.50 price tag for the comfort and good sound.

However, the parking situation is outrageous: $1 for the first two hours with validation and $1 for every 20 minutes after that. It cost $8 to park.

None of the other complexes in town resorts to that sort of highway robbery. The AMC in Century City gives you four hours of parking with validation to cover the length of most films.

At Hollywood & Highland, the situation tempts many people to park on nearby residential streets, making parking in front of your own home impossible.

I understand that employees must also pay full freight ($10) for daily parking and have also taken to the streets, compounding the already congested parking problems in the neighborhood.

The complex must reduce the fees so that people are encouraged to park in the structure and not on the residential streets.
