From Staff and Wire Reports

A national Latino organization said Tuesday that it is investigating spending and hiring practices in Santa Barbara County, which recently placed its top administrator on unpaid leave for alleged insensitive remarks about Muslims.

The League of United Latin American Citizens action comes after county Administrator Mike Brown apologized for remarks that appeared to equate Muslims with terrorists.

Dave Rodriguez, director of LULAC’s Ventura and San Fernando Valley offices, said that Brown’s comments played a role in the decision to investigate, but that there were other alleged incidents.
