Fey Qualifies on ACT

Share

Better late than never for freshman Michael Fey, who received a qualifying ACT score Wednesday, three days after the UCLA winter quarter started. He will enroll either in the spring or fall and will not join the team this season.

Fey, a 7-foot, 255-pound center from Olympia, Wash., has been trying to gain admission to UCLA since last spring. He attended Harbor College in the fall but did not play basketball.

His eligibility will not begin until the 2002-03 school year as long as UCLA does not count his scholarship against this season’s class.

No. 11 UCLA vs. USC

7:30, Fox Sports Net

Site--Forum.

Radio--KMPC (1540), KXTA (1150).

Records--USC 12-2, 4-0 in Pac-10; UCLA 11-2, 4-0.

Update--USC began last season with a 12-2 record before losing to UCLA. The last time a Trojan team began a season 13-2 was in 1975, but USC then lost two in a row. The 1974 Trojans were 14-2 and the 1971 team was 16-0. “[The Trojans] are probably the quickest team in the Pac 10 and they are playing better basketball than any team in the conference,” UCLA Coach Steve Lavin said. “‘SC is taking people out in the first 10 minutes of the game.”
