DJ Dave Orlando Lights Up the Lounge

Share

DJ Dave Orlando’s set at the Lounge last Thursday was so hot, you could see smoke coming off the dance floor. The hip-hop maestro worked the crowd into a frenzy by playing uber-hot rap hits side by side with Boy George and Madness. Guests of the WeHo nightclub included P. Diddy, Chris Rock, the Black-Eyed Peas and hip-hop’s first cover girl, Darlene “the Queen” Ortiz. Oh yeah, it was hot in the city that night.

Had a smashing time at Yamashiro’s in Hollywood with two punk rock divas, music photographer Lisa Johnson and touring/events guru Keri Lee. We timed it just right for a pinky fresh sunset.

Omigod, the Camaro Club at the Viper Room on Monday night was a rock star free-for-all. In the house to support the hot bands Elemental and Memento (darn near a palindrome!) were such A-listers as Disturbed, Mudvayne, Methods of Mayhem, the Cult and Orgy.

Upcoming Camaro Club shows include next Monday’s triple-header with Sugarcult, Smear and the Living Things; the return of Guns N’ Roses’ Duff McKagan’s new band, Loaded, on Jan. 28; and Hand of Doom, the radical Black Sabbath cover band fronted by Hole bassist Melissa Auf der Mauer, on Feb. 4.

Speaking of the Viper Room, Eddie Spaghetti’s acoustic romp on Fridays may turn into a residency. The Supersuckers frontman, who returns Jan. 25, bares it all in this solo routine.

And, in between sets, our night scene’s very own rock star, Casper--from the Pleasure Seekers and Coyote Shivers’ band--controls the turntables, where he cranks up Hank Williams, Elvis, Patsy Cline and Willie Nelson. Yee haw!
