Man Accused of Beating Daughter Is Arrested
Police Saturday arrested a reputed associate of the Mexican Mafia who allegedly beat and severely injured his 16-month-old daughter.
A resident of the 1100 block of West 23rd Street in San Pedro called police about 9:10 a.m. to report that she had seen a man resembling Harry Lee Perez, 36, jump her backyard fence and go into her garage, said LAPD Officer Eduardo Funes. Officers found Perez hiding in the garage and he was taken into custody without incident, Funes said. Perez, who has previous convictions for robbery and domestic violence, will be booked on suspicion of attempted murder, he said.
His injured daughter was listed in fair condition at a local hospital.
