Girl Who Lost Part of Finger Sues Disneyland
The family of a 7-year-old girl who lost two-thirds of her index finger while playing with a toy rifle at Disneyland has sued the Walt Disney Co.
The lawsuit says Priscilla Figueroa of North Hollywood snagged her finger on the trigger of a fake rifle on Tom Sawyer’s Island. The accident occurred Jan. 21, 2001, as she fell from the rifle’s mount.
The suit was filed this week in Orange County Superior Court in Santa Ana. The girl’s lawyer said park operators failed to ensure the gun was safe.
A Disney spokesman declined to comment on the suit’s specifics but said the family has rebuffed company attempts to contact them.
