A newborn girl found at a Walnut Park recycling center died of injuries inflicted during the recycling process, sheriff’s officials said Wednesday.

A bulldozer driver moving cardboard found the baby in a box Tuesday afternoon.

Officials said the baby was naked and still had her umbilical cord attached. They believe she had arrived at the Best Way Recycling Plant on Firestone Boulevard that day.

Cause of death was blunt force trauma as a result of the recycling process, an autopsy found.

Sheriff’s homicide detectives are asking for the public’s help in locating women who were known to be pregnant and are now childless.

On June 10, the body of another newborn girl, also with umbilical cord attached, was found on a conveyer belt at a City of Industry disposal plant.
