On the Way to the Post Office: My life revolves around errands. A big day out for me is going down to my P.O. box in Boyle Heights. Sometimes, on the way there, I will get a pan dulce at a bakery in Pico Rivera. There’s La Imperial Tortilleria y Mercado on 1st Street in Boyle Heights, which has carnitas tacos, which are real big, like double stuffed. I usually get two tacos and that’s enough for two hungry cholos. And I buy corn tortillas there which are thicker than 78s. Also, around my P.O. box, I go get breakfast at Teresitas Family Restaurant, which is also on 1st. It’s kind of like low-budget, gourmet food.

Your Own Personal Dinosaur: We are members of the Natural History Museum, and we have two little kids and my wife is a schoolteacher, so we are always borrowing artifacts from the lending library. Members and teachers can borrow stuff and you can keep them for five days. Last week, we were walking around Exposition Park with a cast of half of a jaw of a T. rex with giant teeth. They have all kinds of cool reproductions there and stuffed animals.

Sofa U Love: I like the Groundlings, the late-night shows and the improv stuff. I took a comedy class there once a few years ago. The funniest thing I’ve ever seen there was Chris Kattan doing this skit, which I later saw on “Saturday Night Live,” of a guy making love to a couch. It was about this guy on a date and at the time, I was on an extremely awkward date.

Thai Malt Liquor: I go to the Havana House in Uptown Whittier on Greenleaf all the time to smoke cigars and drink beer. It’s definitely about 80% guys. They have music there, too; I saw a salsa band that was very good. It’s across the street from an excellent Burmese and Thai restaurant, Golden Triangle. I go there and have the coconut rice and Singha, the Thai malt liquor.
