New Lodgings for Visitors to Northern California

Several new hotels have opened in Northern California in the last month. Among them:

* Santa Rosa: The Vineyard Creek Hotel, Spa & Conference Center, with 155 rooms, is along Santa Rosa Creek in the city’s Historic Railroad Square area. It has a pool; a 5,000-square-foot spa offering massages, facials and steam rooms; 21,000 square feet of indoor meeting space; and a restaurant managed by McCormick & Schmick, opening July 26. * Petaluma: The 183-room Sheraton Petaluma, about 30 miles north of San Francisco, is on the Petaluma Marina near 300 acres of wetlands with hiking and biking trails. It opened about 150 guest rooms last month and plans to have all opened by Aug. 1, a spokeswoman said. Its restaurant, Jellyfish, is described as serving fusion Asian-Mediterranean food. * Cupertino: San Francisco-based Kimpton Hotel & Restaurant Group, known for its boutique-style hotels, has opened its first lodging in Silicon Valley. The $41-million, 224-room Cypress Hotel, located in the hometown of Apple Computer, has a hand-painted ceiling in the lobby and an eclectic decor that incorporates Moroccan-style rugs, polka-dot wallpaper and more.
