Boy, 8, Killed in Crash; Sister Was at the Wheel

An 8-year-old Indian Wells boy was killed Sunday in a single-car accident on Interstate 5 near Ortega Highway, authorities said. Vince Lam was dead at the scene.
The boy’s sister, who was driving, was not seriously injured. Her name and age were unavailable.
The 11:35 a.m. accident closed the southbound slow lane for about 90 minutes. Police said the car was in the carpool lane when it swerved across all lanes of traffic, flew over the embankment and landed on its roof in a canal.
