Accenture Earnings Rise on Cost Cuts

Accenture Ltd.’s fiscal third-quarter profit rose 9.3% after the world’s largest computer-consulting company cut jobs and bonuses.

Net income in the quarter ended May 31 rose to $114.5 million, or 27 cents a share. Sales, excluding expense reimbursements from clients for items such as computer and software purchases, rose less than 1% to $2.98 billion.

Accenture cut $66 million in costs, including $30 million in bonuses, to boost profit as customers bought fewer computer services.

Shares of Accenture fell $1.45, or 9.3%, to $14.10 on the NYSE.
