Two Buena Park police officers suffered minor injuries early Tuesday while stopping burglary suspects who rammed their vehicle into a patrol car, authorities said.

One officer suffered back injuries; the other sprained an ankle.

The officers were responding to a call from the parking lot of the JCPenney warehouse in the 6000 block of Orangethorpe Avenue about 1:30 a.m., said Buena Park Police Sgt. Rich Pena.

He said guards spotted two men breaking into cars and called police.

As the men sped away, they “crashed intentionally” into one officer’s car, then reversed their vehicle and tried to flee again, Pena said.

But the second officer was able to stop the car by ramming it, and the men surrendered, he said.

The men were identified as Marcos Sanchez, 24, and Luis Humberto Gonzales, 22, both of Los Angeles. They were booked into the city jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon against a peace officer and auto burglary.
