Quinton McCracken hit a two-run double and Tony Womack followed with a two-run homer as the Arizona Diamondbacks rallied in the eighth inning to defeat the Colorado Rockies, 8-5, Tuesday night at Phoenix.

The Diamondbacks took a 4-1 lead into the eighth before both teams scored four times.

Arizona closer Byung-Hyun Kim blew his fourth save in 30 chances, giving up a three-run double to Juan Uribe that capped Colorado’s comeback. Kim (4-1) wound up with the win.

Todd Jones (1-2) got the loss after giving up all four Arizona runs in the eighth.

Womack drove in three runs, hitting a run-scoring single in the fifth before his drive into the right-field seats in the eighth. It was his second homer and first since April 6--a span of 329 at-bats.

Mark Grace also homered for Arizona. Junior Spivey doubled twice and singled.

Spivey’s two-run double gave the Diamondbacks a 4-1 lead in the fifth.

Arizona starter Brian Anderson left after giving up a double to Brent Butler with one out in the eighth inning.

Larry Walker followed with a run-scoring single off reliever Mike Myers, a left-handed specialist who then hit Todd Helton with a pitch.

St. Louis 4, San Francisco 0--Matt Morris pitched eight sharp innings and Jim Edmonds homered to lead the Cardinals at San Francisco.

Tino Martinez hit a two-run double and Edmonds added an RBI double for the Cardinals, who won their third in a row.

The injury-riddled Giants, playing with a depleted lineup, lost for the third time in four games.

Morris (12-6) struck out eight to beat the Giants for the second consecutive start. He gave up six hits and walked three.

Barry Bonds, Jeff Kent and Reggie Sanders, the Giants’ Nos. 3-4-5 hitters, all missed the game with various injuries.

Bonds was out with a right hamstring strain and could miss up to a week. Kent missed his second straight game with soreness in his upper leg, and Sanders was out with a mild right hamstring strain.

New York 4, Montreal 3--Mike Piazza and Mo Vaughn each hit two-run homers at New York and Jeff D’Amico won for the first time in nearly two months.

The Expos lost their fifth straight game, but more importantly watched All-Star right fielder Vladimir Guerrero leave because of a bruised left knee after crashing into the wall to rob Jeromy Burnitz of an extra-base hit.

The catch was one of the only highlights for the slumping Expos, who less than two weeks ago seemed poised to make a surprising run at the playoffs.

But after acquiring slugger Cliff Floyd on July 11, the Expos are just 3-10. Floyd has offered little help, batting only .200 with two RBIs for Montreal. He was hitless in 17 at-bats before doubling in the eighth inning.

The Mets, who looked lost coming out of the All-Star break, have won eight of 10 to move four games over .500 for the first time since May 31 and back into wild-card contention.

Atlanta 5, Florida 3--Henry Blanco and Rafael Furcal had RBI singles in a three-run fifth inning at Miami as Tom Glavine and the Braves ended the Marlins’ four-game win streak.

Glavine drove in a run with a suicide squeeze and won for the second time in as many starts--both against Florida--after six winless outings.

He gave up three runs and nine hits in 5 1/3 innings for his 237th victory, moving past Whitey Ford for 50th place on the career list.

Houston 7, Milwaukee 4--Pete Munro pitched seven strong innings at Houston as the Astros sent Milwaukee to its ninth straight loss.

The Astros are 4-0 in the games Munro has started since being called up from triple-A on June 27.

Philadelphia 7, Chicago 4--Scott Rolen hit a tiebreaking three-run homer in the seventh inning at Chicago.

With the score 4-all, Matt Clement hit Pat Burrell with a pitch with two out in the seventh and gave up a single to Travis Lee. Rolen, the first batter to face Kyle Farnsworth, sent a 3-and-2 pitch through a strong wind into the left-field bleachers for his 16th homer of the season.

Cincinnati 7, Pittsburgh 2--Austin Kearns drove in four runs and Reggie Taylor had his first career pinch-hit homer at Cincinnati.

Kearns drove in runs with an infield single and a double off Kip Wells and later added a sacrifice fly, making the Pirates pay for walking Ken Griffey Jr. ahead of him all three times.
