Graziani’s Goal Powers Earthquakes Past Fire

Ariel Graziani scored in the 43rd minute and Joe Cannon had his eighth shutout of the season as the San Jose Earthquakes beat the Chicago Fire, 1-0, Wednesday night before 9,137 at San Jose.

Graziani scored on a header from about 30 feet off a long pass from Landon Donovan.

San Jose is 8-0-1 when Graziani scores.

Colorado 3, New England 2--Zach Kingsley and Mark Chung scored early in the second half as the Rapids beat the Revolution before 14,548 at Foxboro, Mass.

Kingsley broke a 1-1 tie in the 58th minute with his first MLS goal. Chung followed with his seventh of the season in the 63rd minute.

New York-New Jersey 3, Kansas City 1--Rodrigo Faria scored twice and Mamadou Diallo added a goal as the MetroStars won before 6,271 at Kansas City, Mo.

Faria opened the scoring for the MetroStars in the 22nd minute and added his eighth goal of the season in second-half injury time. Diallo scored his 10th goal off a centering pass from Faria to make it 2-0 in the 26th minute.

Columbus 1, Washington 0--Dante Washington scored early in the second half and rookie goalkeeper Jon Busch made six saves for his second career shutout before 17,368 at Columbus, Ohio.
