Cardoza Is Looking for a Double-Double

Share

Trainer Danny Cardoza will be looking for repeat wins from a pair of his horses tonight.

In the seventh, Cardoza, who is winning with about one of every three horses he has started at the meet, will send out One Cool Alibi, who broke her maiden in her second start on July 13.

Then, a race later, the Brazilian-bred Dinastia Toll will try for her second win in three starts when she takes on five others in a $12,550 allowance at 350 yards.

A 2-year-old daughter of Sir Alibi, One Cool Alibi is one of three fillies in the seventh, which will go at 300 yards, coming off a win. Sawachan beat maidens by a length on July 5 for trainer Kelly Lewis. Runaway Royal edged Whats Your Game by a nose on July 6 for trainer Felix Gonzalez.

Dinastia Toll, who is a 4-year-old Tolltac mare, has WCR Rubys Diamond to fear most in the eighth. An Idaho-bred mare trained by Donna McArthur, WCR Rubys Diamond was a sharp second to the streaking Running Bac in last weekend’s Deelish Handicap in her first start of the year.

The picks: 1. Seldom Lies. 2. Truly Tia. 3. Silky Goose. 4. Movnit. 5. Reality Check. 6. Run Five Dashes. 7. Sawachan. 8. WCR Rubys Diamond. 9. Heza Buggin Wonder.

Four! Use Seldom Lies and Halloween Moon in the first, Truly Tia, Tierra Firme and Sunday Blush in the second, Silky Goose and Fahana in the third and Landseaire and Movnit in the fourth.

Shots in the dark: Fahana could benefit from a rapid pace in the third. First Steps Special could improve against softer company in the seventh after chasing Red Lipstick in a trial for the Ed Burke Memorial Futurity.
