From Associated Press

Ken Griffey Jr. is expected to sit out the Cincinnati Reds’ weekend series against the Pittsburgh Pirates because his strained right hamstring is still bothering him.

Griffey took batting practice Friday but was out of the starting lineup for the sixth consecutive game. He injured the hamstring while running to first base against the Angels last Friday.

Griffey had a precautionary MRI that showed only a strain. Last season he tore the other hamstring and was limited to 111 games.

Griffey tore a tendon in his right knee on April 7 and was on the disabled list for six weeks.
