2 Plead Not Guilty in Kidnap-for-Ransom Plot
From Times Staff Reports
Two suspects pleaded not guilty Monday in U.S. District Court to charges that they participated in an international kidnap-for-ransom plot that left five Southland residents dead, prosecutors said.
Natalya Solovyeva, 26, of Encino and Aleksejus Markovskis, 28, of Hollywood were indicted by a federal grand jury last week for conspiracy and hostage-taking.
Because the kidnappings resulted in death, the suspects face a possible death penalty if convicted.
