Maher’s Farewell

Share

After all these years on the air, Bill Maher still doesn’t understand what made his show tick (“Bill Maher Wraps Up a Few Thoughts,” by Paul Brownfield, June 22). It’s not that viewers wish to hear him extrapolate on politics and news events, it’s the disparate mix of celebrities and thinkers who have opinions we wouldn’t otherwise get to hear. I’ll take Carrot Top’s amusing musings about the presidency any day over Maher’s angry and sexist comments.

Mostly, the problem with “Politically Incorrect” is that it became an escalating excuse for its host’s rudeness. He won’t be missed but perhaps someone will reorganize the idea of having clever people sitting around and gabbing. “The View” makes the attempt but is still a project-plugging program.
