Motorist Is Slain by Gunman on Sidewalk
A man driving through a Boyle Heights neighborhood was shot and killed early Saturday during a gang-related shooting, police said.
Witnesses told police that the driver, described as being in his early 20s, and a male passenger were riding in the 3000 block of Fairmont Street about 2 a.m. Saturday when a gunman on the sidewalk opened fire, fatally wounding the driver, said Los Angeles police Lt. Gordon Wade.
The car then crashed into a fence, Wade said. The passenger in the car suffered minor injuries in the crash, he said.
