Witnesses Call Dogs in Mauling Well-Behaved
Defense attorneys Wednesday continued presenting witnesses who said the two dogs that fatally mauled a San Francisco woman were usually well-behaved.
“I never saw them being aggressive at anyone,” said Angelos Prongos, owner of Mayflower Market.
The manager of Left at Albuquerque, Michael Beachnau, said the dogs’ owners, defendants Marjorie Knoller and Robert Noel, took them to the restaurant regularly.
Three veterinarians testified that the dogs did not cause any problems while being treated.
Diane Whipple, 33, who was the defendants’ neighbor, died in January 2001 after being attacked by the two Presa Canario dogs in the hallway of her apartment.
Knoller is on trial in Los Angeles County Superior Court for second-degree murder, involuntary manslaughter and keeping a mischievous dog. Her husband, Noel, faces the latter two charges.
