Knott’s to Remove VertiGo Thrill Ride

Knott’s Berry Farm will remove its VertiGo thrill ride, an attraction that launches people into the air, after the collapse of an identical ride at another park, officials said.
VertiGo, which opened in October, was closed in January after a steel pole collapsed on the ride at Challenge Park in Ohio. The park was closed at the time, and no one was injured. The cause of the collapse has not been determined.
Dismantling of the rides in Buena Park and Ohio will begin immediately, Knott’s officials said.
VertiGo resembles a small spacecraft with six open-air seats and is held by guide wires from three 300-foot poles. Riders are shot into the air and given the sensation of being suspended in space.
