Ford Motor Co.’s Crown Victoria, Mercury Grand Marquis and Lincoln Town Car are being reviewed by the U.S. government because of at least eight reports of police and consumer deaths after fuel tanks ruptured when the cars were rear-ended at high speed.

Ford said it was working with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and did not expect to find a problem.

The auto maker’s shares fell 10 cents to $16.81 on the NYSE.
