NCAA to Investigate Camp

A spokeswoman said the NCAA plans to review the Student Sports Elite 11 Quarterback Camp after receiving information about alleged improprieties.

The camp, located in San Juan Capistrano and run by Mission Viejo High Coach Bob Johnson, brings together some of the nation’s top high school quarterbacks, who receive instruction from some of the top quarterbacks on the collegiate level.

“We received information about the camp and, at this point, we plan to look into the camp further to see if there are any problems,” said NCAA spokeswoman Jane Janskowski. “I don’t know if there is a specific timetable to do that.”

Johnson, who led Mission Viejo to the Southern Section Division II title last fall, said the NCAA received its information from an unreliable source.

“They won’t find anything,” Johnson said. “It’s just a perfectly run camp.”
