Wing Guts It Out

Share

The Mighty Ducks found themselves in a bind up front Wednesday.

Center Samuel Pahlsson was too sick to play. Right wing Timo Parssinen was discovered to have a broken bone in his right wrist. Right wing Jonas Ronnqvist had been shipped back to minor league Cincinnati on Monday. That left the Ducks with a hole at forward.

So Parssinen, who learned of his broken wrist late Monday, was pressed into service against Pittsburgh. He played despite the injury, which occurred against Ottawa on Sunday.

“I really can’t shoot pretty much at all, otherwise it’s pretty good,” Parssinen said Wednesday morning. “I can pass and handle the puck a little bit. Shooting is the worst.”

Parssinen’s shooting ability looked just fine in the first period. He had a quality attempt from the slot four minutes in, then assisted on Matt Cullen’s goal with 39.5 seconds left in the period.

It was Parssinen’s second assist in 11 games with the Ducks this season.

“I still can show what I can do, even with the wrist,” Parssinen said.
